Explanations and Frequently Asked Questions
Most asked Questions
Why don't you have the "Best Items" search like the old website?
I have updated the search feature to work more like the old website. On the Search Database page, there is a max level and a min level. Any search you do on the top search bar will only scan the database for items between those two levels. Use the "Sort By" dropdown list to sort search results by level or stats from highest to lowest. Once the results appear, you can re-sort them by clicking on the links in the far left column. For example, if you wanted to search for gloves with the most damage then put your level where it says "max" and a low number (like 1) where it says "min" and then click "GO". When the results appear then just click the "Damage" link on the far left column to sort by damage instead of the item's level. Even the Backpack page can be sorted the same way.
Why can't I sort items by two stats, like attack and damage?
There is no point to writing the code for this. You can sort by any one stat and then look on the row with your second choice stat until you find an acceptable item. For example, if you wanted to search for gloves with the most attack and damage then sort by attack, and then look in the damage row and work your way down the results list.
Is there a way to clear out a combat set completely?
I didn't want to clutter up the screen more than it already is with more buttons. There are three ways to remove an item from one of your combat sets. The first is to delete the item from your backpack. Second is to replace it with another item. Third is to replace it with a blank item. You can make a blank item, (an item with no stats) from the create item page. Make one item of each type (gloves, helmet, etc.) with no stats. Then replace the items in your combat set with the blank items.
Registration - Login - Passwords
Why do I need to register and log in?
My old stats calculator site used cookies but there are severe limits to what can be done with cookies. For example, most browsers only allow 20 cookies per domain. Also, it is difficult to store multiple variables in one cookie and a single set of equipment takes about 100 variables. The only other option is to store all the variables and user data in a real database, and that requires that each user have a unique username and password.
I forgot my password. Now what?
The passwords are encrypted in the database and I cannot retrieve it for you. If you ever forget your password then you can have it reset and a new, randomly generated password, will be emailed to the address you entered on signup. This is completely automated and it is the only way to reset a lost password. If there is no email address associated with your account then you will have to re-register. Don't worry, this is not a game so there is no rule against having multiple accounts. Sadly, there is no advantage either.
How do I change my password?
If you are loged in then click here or use the link at the bottom of the "Info" page. You must be loged in and enter your current password in order to change it.
Info Page
The information you enter in this page will be used in other parts of the website. Your "Base Stats" and your "Guild Bonus" points are added to your total stats. Your Base Stats are also used to calculate the bonuses for most of the buffs. Enter your Skill Points for each of the buffs to automatically calculate each buff's bonus stats on the Stats page and the Buffs page.
Where do I find my Base Stats?
Your Base Stats are the "Level Up" points that you get each time you advance a level in the game. Open the game "Character" submenu and click on the Level Up link to see your Base Stats. These points are added to your total stats for each Combat Set and they are used to calculate the bonues you get for many of the buffs.
Where do I find my Guild Bonus stats?
Some of the guild structues will give bonus stats to each member of the guild. View your "Manage Guild" page in-game and review the structures to see what bonuses you are getting from the guild. Another way to find your Guild Bonus points is to use the numbers in parenthesis () on your profile page when you have no active buffs and your guild does not have any relics.
Why aren't all the buffs listed?
There are a lot of buffs in the game but this website is only concerned with the ones that affect your stats.
What is the difference between Skill Points and Buff Level?
Without the Fury Shrine and Fury Caster enhancement, there is no difference. But if you have 100% Fury Caster then your actual Buff Level will be 25 points higher than your Skill Points. On the "Info" page, enter your Skill Points and Fury Caster percentage so that your Buff Level will be calculated correctly on the "Stats" and "Buffs" pages. If somebody else buffs you with a different level than your own buff, you can type in the Buff Level directly in the Buffs Table on the Stats or Buffs page.
Stats Page
You can save 6 Combat Sets for viewing on the Stats Page. One of these Combat Sets will appear in a table or you can view two Combat Sets for easy comparison. Two rows of links at the top of the Combat Set tables will take you to the main item database or your backpack and display the type of item named by the link. Below this you will find a table with the total stats for each of your Combat Sets. At the very bottom is a Buffs table where you can select which buffs will be factored into your total stats.
Comparing the total stats for different Combat Sets
The default setting has one Combat Set displayed on the Stats page and there is a link for displaying a second. Use the drop-down lists at the top of the page to change which of your Combat Sets are displayed. The total stats for the two selected Combat Sets will be displayed in the Comparison table below, with and without active buffs. In the Comparison Table, the set on top is compared to the set on the bottom. For example, if the set on top has 500 damage and the set on the bottom has 400 damage then the comparison table will show a difference of -100 damage.
Selecting Items from the Stats Page
Across the top of each Combat Set table are two rows of links. The links on the top row will take you to the Item Search Page to view and select items in the main item database. The links on the second row will take you to your Virtual Backpack page and display all the selected type of items in your backpack. For example, if you click on the "weapons" link in the "database" row, then you will see all the weapons in the main database. Clicking the "weapons" link in the "backpack" row will display all the weapons in your backpack. Any items selected from either the database or your backpack, will replace the item of the same type in the combat set from which you clicked on the link. For example, if Combat Set 2 is displayed on the top, and you click on the backpack "amulets" link, then any amulet you select from that page will replace the amulet that was used in Combat Set 2. While viewing items from either the database or your backpack, you can change the Combat Set it will be stored in by using the "save to" dropdown list. The Search Page has an extra option in the "save to" dropdown list for storing the item directly to your backpack without assigning it a combat set.
Item Sets Bonuses
Item sets, such as the Infernus Set and the Mancrusha Set, provide bonuses for stats and enhancements which are added to your total stats. These bonuses are added automatically and will appear in the "Sets" columns on the right. At this time only three Item Set bonuses will be displayed and factored into your total stats, although it is possible in the game to wear 4 Item Sets at the same time. I'm saving this for a future update.
Search Page
The Search Page is where you will go to browse all the items in the database. Select the type of item you want to see with the dropdown list and enter the level range for the search. The name of each item is a link to find it in the Fallen Sword Auction House. The items can be sorted according to their stats or level with the links on the left. When you select an item, it will be saved in your backpack and it will be assigned to the combat set named by the "save to" dropdown list. You also have the option to save the item to your backpack without assigning it to a combat set. The default for the "save to" dropdown list will be whichever Combat Set is on the top of the Stats Page, unless you clicked on one of the "database" links on the lower table of the stats page. You can change an item's stats by typing them in before you select it. The Hellforge dropdown list is for labeling purposes only and using it will not change the satats.
The names of some items are in bold and italics. Why?
Items that are part of an Item Set will have their names in bold and italics.
I have an item that is not in the database.
How do I put it in?
First of all, that will never happen because I update new items as soon as they appear in game. But if you want to enter an imaginary item with the stats of your choosing then click here, or use the link between the tables on the Search Page. The item you create will be saved in your backpack.
Backpack Page
Your Virtual Backpack stores all of the items you have selected from the main item database. You can view all the items, or only the items of a type that you select with the links. If you used a link from the Stats Page then it will display only the type of item named by the link you clicked on. Items in your backpack can be sorted according to any one of the stats or minimum level, by clicking the links on the left. You can modify the stats for Hellforged or Crafted items by typing in the correct stats and clicking the "Select" or "Update" button. Clicking "Select" will store the item in the Combat Set named in the "save to" dropdown list. The item will still be in your backpack and can be used with other Combat Sets.
Selecting Items from the Backpack Page
You can assign the items in your backpack to any one of your Combat Sets. Use the "save to" dropdown list to choose which Combat set, and then click the "Select" button to store it there. The item you selected will simply replace the previous item of that type for the Combat Set you chose. For example, if you have Fire Dragon boots assigned to combat set 1, and you select Boots of Carnage for combat set 1, then the Boots of Carnage will replace the Fire Dragon Boots. Both items will remain in your backpack as well.
Hellforging items in your Virtual Backpack
|
The Hellforge dropdown list is for labeling purposes only! What this means is that changing the setting will not change
the stats of any item in your backpack. If you have a Forged item in your game backpack, and you want the one in your
Virtual Backpack to match, then type in the correct stats and use the hellforge dropdown list to lable it with the correct
Hellforge level, then click the "Update" button to save the changes. Now the stats in your Virtual Backpack will match. If you have an unforged item in your Virtual Backpack and you want to see the cost of forging and how the stats will change, then leave the hellforge dropdown list set to 0 and click the "Forge" button. This will take you to the Hellforge page and show all the stats and cost at each level of forging and allow you to update the item in your backpack. If you have an item that is already partially forged, (three times, for example) then type in the correct stats and use the hellforge dropdown list to lable it as forged three times. Then click the "Forge" button to see the cost and stats for the fourth and fifth forgings. |
List Page
Use the "List Page" to save a total of 100 players as friends or enemies for free. You can post a note up to 255 characters for each person on your list. It is important that the name is spelled exactly right for the "mail" and "trade" features to work. By adding the Player ID Number in the appropriate field, their mini avatar and a link to their profile will appear above the player's name on your list.
Why don't the "Send Message" and "Make Trade" links work?
These links will only work if the player's name is spelled exactly the way it is in the game. When adding a player to your list, it is best to copy-and-paste the name from the player's profile to avoid mistakes such as the letters l and O, and the numbers 1 and 0. It is also possible that there is a game glitch, such as two players with the same name. For example, there are two players named acvila so the "message" and "trade" links might not work right.
Where do I get the Player ID Number for my friends/enemies on the
List Page?
View that player's profile and then coppy the numbers that appear at the end of the URL in your browser. The URL should look like this "http://www.fallensword.com/index.php?cmd=profile&player_id=349200" and in this example the Player ID Number is 349200. Only type in the numbers that appear after "player_id=" in the URL.
Hellforge Page
This page shows you what the cost of Hellforging will be and how the stats of an item will change at each level of forging. If you use the link in the main menu then the Hellforge page will be empty so you can type in an item with its stats and level manually. But the Hellforge page is best accessed by clicking the "Forge" button on an item in your Backpack. This will automatically input the item's name, level and stats, and the calculations will appear in the table. This method will also create buttons under the item at each level of forging that will allow you apply the new stats to the item in your backpack.
Buffs Page
The Buffs Calculator provides detailed information about the buffs that affect your stats. The default Buff Levels are calculated based on the Skill Points and Fury Caster you entered on the "Info" page. You can change the Buff Level defaults by typing in a different number and clicking the "Recalculate Stats" button. The table shows how much of each stat is added by each buff. Only buffs that are set to "on" will be used in the calculations. By default, any buff with more than 15 skillpoints will be turned on. You can change the on/off settings with the radio buttons but you must click the "Recalculate Stats" link after making any changes.
Why is it showing more Skill Points and Buff Level than what I have?
Check that you entered your Skill Points and not your Buff Level on the "Info" page. If you have 100 Skill Points on a buff then enter 100 for that buff on your Info page. If your Fury Caster is 100% then your Buff Level will be 25 points higher than your Skill Points. Your default Buff Level will be calculated and used automatically based on your Skill Points and Fury Caster.
Why is it showing less Buff Level than what I have?
Check your Fury Caster setting. If your Fury Caster is 100% then enter 100 (not 25) on the "Info" page.
Stamina Page
The Stamina calculator shows the local time when you will reach your maximum stamina. If you filled out all the information on the "Info" page then your Max Stamina, Stamina Gain per Hour, and your local time should be pre-filled. Simply type in your current stamina and the number of minutes untel your next stamina gain and click the "Calculate" button.
